She was born in Hartford, Connecticut and graduated from the University of Connecticut. Faith married and relocated to Daytona Beach, Florida and began her family. After moving to Jacksonville in the mid-60’s, she worked as a special education teacher before transitioning to a Tax Specialist at the Internal Revenue Service. After over 28 years of service at the IRS, Faith retired at the age of 70.
Faith loved her family and friends deeply and would often gush over their personal and professional accomplishments. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was her greatest attribute. She made many cherished friends from her days in Jacksonville and, true to form, outlived most of them.
Faith never passed a slot machine she didn’t like. One of her favorite things to do was visit the Mayport “gambling ship”, navigate the maze of gaming machines, and spend hours at the penny slots – even with crippling arthritis which limited her physically! She loved to travel and in the 90’s took the “trip of her life” to China. Faith loved classical music (but also enjoyed “modern” music) and playing bingo with her friends. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzler. Faith also was known to have great recipes for certain dishes, specifically her famous stuffing which her family still makes on Thanksgiving. She will be remembered as she lived, kindhearted, generous, and delightfully witty.
Faith is predeceased by her parents, Gilbert H. & Gladys L. Nettleton, and her husband, S. Paul Williams. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Phil) Harbison and Kimberly Dull; grandchildren, Philip (Hope) Harbison, Brett Harbison, Taylor Harbison, Kaelen (Sarah) Dull and Maegan Dull; brother, G. Alden Nettleton; nephew, Stephen Nettleton; and niece, Wendy (Rob) Russell.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 30, 2019 at Brookdale Atrium Way - Event Room, 9960 Atrium Way, Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Faith’s memory be made to: Guidedogs.com, K9sForWarriors.org, or StJude.org.
HARDAGE-GIDDENS CHAPEL HILLS, 850 Saint Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225, is serving the family.
