Eugene Dewitt Dean sr, husband, son, daddy, brother, uncle, papa. these are merely a few of many monikers Eugene went by, as each individual around him seemingly had their own names for him, and he they.
Eugene was born on a Wednesday, November 21,1946, amidst the brisk and cool air of an Autumn day. He was his mother’s 3rd child. Gene grew up in Jacksonville Florida where he later married and raised his children Tammy Casper, Kristie Gregory (Mary Lee) and later married Patricia Dean and raised Sandi Woodard (Josh), Irene Dean, and Eugene Jr (Buddy)
To provide for his family, Gene took up truck-driving, a job that left him driving 18-wheelers and Big-Rigs state-to-state. Gene, upon receiving his monthly paper checks, would always try to spoil his kids. After cashing these checks, he would go home and ask his kids “What do y’all wanna do?” and whatever their response was, is what they did. If someone said “Daddy, I want to go to Disneyland,” Gene said “Okay, baby, let’s go.”
Years later, Gene had become papa, to his grandchildren. These grandchildren of his grew up to be the coal that fueled his fire in his later years. Papa Gene was a kind man that provided for his family, leaving no one behind and leaving no one out. He did whatever he could to provide to those he loved, and he’d give his life 10 times over if it meant any of his children or grandchildren could keep theirs.
Gene was a sensitive and caring man, someone so sweet you’d mistake him for a sugary snack. He did everything for us, and he’d do anything for us. A man exempt of any phrase or written description that could accurately convey all of his traits. Rest in peace, Daddy, Papa Gene.
Survived by Patricia Dean of 41 years, 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Very loved and very missed. Rest In Peace Daddy.
