Emma Pickett Weeks, 88, a loving and beloved Christ-Follower, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 30, 2021.
Emma was born into the Pickettville home of her parents, Walter Patrick Pickett and Lena Marie Pickett on February 28, 1933. She attended Pickett Elementary, Duval Junior High School and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1951. She worked locally for Standard Oil Company, Ivy Steel and Wire and Koppers before retiring in 1990. She was a devoted homemaker, incredible Southern cook and keen observer of life - but most of all she loved her family and we loved her.
She was predeceased by her parents and by her sister, Nettie Ruth Pickett.
She is survived by her loving and loyal husband of over 69 years and best friend, Claude R. Weeks, Jr.; son Claude Russell Weeks, III; son David Patrick Weeks (Susan), sister Mildred Pickett Sova; grandson Matthew David Weeks (Sara) and twin great-grandchildren in the womb.
She was a member of Switzerland Community Church for nearly 50 years.
We would like to thank the staff at the River Garden facility for their compassionate and comforting care shown to Emma during the past several weeks.
We look forward to reuniting with Emma in heaven as the Lord calls each one of us into His presence.
A service (with visitation at 1000 hrs) honoring the life of Emma will be held at 1030 hrs, Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Switzerland Community Church with Pastor Emeritus Wesley Slough and Pastor Joseph Smith officiating. Burial (family only) will follow at Westview Cemetery. A special thank you to the pallbearers: John Adams, Jim Carden, Gene Hamilton, Wayne Newman, Randy Rabb and J.P. Zaiter.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223. www.hgmandarin.com (904) 288-0025.
