We mourn the loss of Doug Baker, born on the 8th of March, 1963, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and sibling, who sadly passed on the 23rd of March, 2024, after spending 61 fulfilling years on earth.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Malinda Baker, whom he married in 1983, their son, Kyle Baker, his brothers; Chuck, Jeff, Matt, and Greg Baker, his sister, Debbie Baker, his daughter-in-law, Sarah Baker and their sweet granddaughter, Sutton Baker.
Doug was an accomplished military veteran who enlisted in the US Navy in 1981 and retired 30 years later at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Throughout his career, he demonstrated dedication and commitment to service which were traits admired by his colleagues.
As a father, he ushered in a new chapter of his life when he welcomed his son into the world on the 18th of July, 1985. His joy multiplied when he became a grandfather on the 2nd of October, 2018. Doug's family was his utmost priority, and he thrived while providing them with strength and guidance.
A man of diverse interests, Doug was an ardent supporter of The Ohio State University's sports teams. His favorite drink was Jack and Coke, and he had a deep appreciation for Classic Rock. He enjoyed the sport of Racquetball and often spent his free time indulging in his love for working on Cars, Motorcycles, and House Projects.
Doug's quirky yet serious personality made every interaction with him a unique experience. His legacy as an amazing husband, father, and grandfather will linger in the hearts of those he left behind.
Doug will be missed by his friends, family, and all who were fortunate to experience his enriching presence. His life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to his family and his pursuit of knowledge and service. May his soul find eternal peace.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, April 15th , 2024 at 11am to noon, at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. Burial services will follow at 2:30 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218
