She was born, May 19, 1920, in East Point, Georgia to the late Victor and Lillie Pearl Lynch. She attended Russell High School and was married to Sidney “Sid” C. Callahan for 45 years, until his passing in 1983.
She and Sid were charter members of Lakewood United Methodist Church and raised their daughter and son in the Lakewood and Beauclerc neighborhoods.
She enjoyed square dancing, painting, bowling, quilting, playing bridge, shopping at garage sales and thrift stores, but most of all traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Dot is survived by her daughter, Shirley C. Myrick and her grandchildren Mrs. Noel Peters (Dow), Mrs. Joy Albritton (Lonny) and Travis Callahan (Brittany); her great-grandchildren Casey, Hannah, Nicholas and Zoe Albritton and Shae Peters, all of Jacksonville, Florida; and one sister, Mary Lou Watson of Union City, Georgia and nephew John “Chuck” Watson, Jr. (Jane), of Marietta, Georgia.
Dot rejoined those she loved, including her parents, husband, and son, Gary Callahan and great-grandson Austin Albritton.
Dot was lovingly known as "Grandma" to many friends of her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral service and burial will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida. Donations in Dorothy's name can be made via Go Fund Me to Daniel Kids or directly at danielkids.org.
