Doris was born in Vada, Georgia on July 25, 1924 to her parents Thomas Pullen and Maude Dollar Boutwell. She married her husband, Thomas Jackson (TJ) Perry, on August 17, 1941 and they lived in Climax, GA until moving to Jacksonville in 1948. Doris resided in her southside Jacksonville home for over 66 years, which she dearly loved. She was a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at Taylor Home and St. Jude nursing homes for approximately 20 years, as well as a devoted nannie to several children from infancy through their teenage years. She was a faithful member of West Jacksonville and Friendship Advent Christian Community Churches and was a devoted Christian throughout her life of 97 years who unselfishly loved her Lord unconditionally.
Doris was predeceased by her parents, step-mother Annie-Mae Boutwell, brothers Virgil and Joe Boutwell, sisters Auburn Keigans, Mattie-Lou Ponder, and Ila Boutwell, grandson Johnathan Perry, and her beloved husband TJ.
She is survived by her four children Lamar (Fran) Perry, Jarrett (Jeri) Helms, Lee (Paul) Hibel, and Mark (Angie) Perry. Also surviving her are eight adored grandchildren Edward (Michelle) Perry, Matthew (Chrystal) Perry), Kelly (Bill) Fitzgerald, Kevin (Katie) Helms, Michael (Tammy) Hibel, Jeffrey (Margie) Hibel, Georgia and Jackson Paul Perry, and her cherished eleven great-grandchildren Sophie Perry, Courtney and Ashleigh Fitzgerald, Anna, JT, Henry, and Benjamin Perry, Taylor and Morgan Hibel, Paul Frank and Brian Hibel, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, 850 St. John’s Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida 32225 on Saturday, October 23, 2021, with visitation at 10:00 am and services immediately following at 11:00 am with Pastor Butch Jerrell presiding. Doris will be interned beside her late husband, TJ, in the Sermon on the Mount Perry Family section of Chapel Hills Memory Gardens.
Her grandsons and only one grandson-in-law, Bill Fitzgerald, will honorably serve as Pallbearers.
