Sister Leacock was a dear friend and spiritual mother. The first day I attended the Kingdom Hall, Sister Leacock came over and introduced herself, that was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. She made a point of coming over after every meeting to encourage me. She was very fashionable and we often spoke about clothes and the various styles. I remember I was travelling over the summer holiday and I asked her what I can get for her, she said she wanted human hair braids because she wanted to braid her hair for our annual Convention. I laughed and told her she will be the only old eighty-year-old lady with braided hair! When I saw her at the Convention, she proudly showed off her braids which she did herself.

Ever the lady. Ever the giving spirit. And  the sparkling engaging smile.
When others were told about her passing, what is immediately  said of her is that she was known for her spirituality ‘you would always see her sitting, witnessing at the bus stop, doing magazine work’.

My memories of her are deep spirituality and maturity. Being always punctual. Her generosity.
Whenever there was a spiritual event or activity she was sure to be there always early. So she participated in all forms of the ministry and of course when the cart work was introduced here in Barbados, she was among those participating, being seen sitting at the cart even in her latter years.
It’s because of her studying with my mom I became acquainted with her family and became very attached to them and particularly my dear friend Carol. 
Her generous  nature was displayed whenever I visited, because she always looked for something for me to come away with. 
I appreciated her love of the unusual, her knack of finding unusual but practical things and she took good care of her things.  If I dared to ask  about them she would offer, not taking no  for an answer saying she has another one or something to that effect. I still have most of what she gave to me.  Forever grateful to her.
So to Carol, John, Eunice, Ruth, my sincerest condolences.

From Mama. My deepest condolences to all the children and Doris’s relatives. I will be forever grateful to Doris. It was good to know her. She assisted in my spiritual journey, finishing my study and starting me off in field service. I remembered she was early at the meetings. As a result of her  deep spirituality and determined love for the truth I remain a pioneer until this day.  To the children 1 Cor 1:3,4.

I am grateful that I was able to let you know before you left us how much I appreciated your care and guidance. You were always there to comfort and support each of us. See you in paradise.

My condolence to the family of Ms. Leacock. We will miss her dearly. She always greeted us with a smile. She is a woman of faith that never fails to share the word of God. May the Lord bring comfort to her family.

My experience with Sis. Leacock
A Thursday Night I complimented Sis. Leacock on her black blouse. I told her how much I liked it. She remarked: you really like it. I  said yes!  The following Sunday she gave me a nicely wrapped package with a sweet smile. It was the blouse.

Sister Leacock had an outstanding career. She was impactful and committed. Her command and  ability to reason, explain the truth in a simple way showed total steadfastness to Jehovah.  Humble.  Unassuming - in terms of her ability to communicate and encourage thinking.

There are no words that can fully capture the depth of my love and gratitude for my mother. Her influence and guidance have shaped me in ways that still resonate deeply today. She was more than just a caretaker and provider—she was a spiritual guide, a pillar of strength, and the heart of our family. Her greatest gift was her enduring faith, which carried her through life’s many challenges.

Raising five children on her own, my mother was an incredible example of resilience and dedication. She always had a giving spirit , offering material possessions, a warm meal, or words of wisdom to anyone in need. But beyond her generosity, she also had a remarkable sense of humor. Her quick wit and natural gift for storytelling brought laughter and joy to our lives.

Some of my fondest memories are of the surprises she would plan for us. Whether it was a spontaneous trip to the beach, a special gift, or a rare treat like going to the movies, she always knew how to make moments magical. I’ll never forget the day she surprised my sister and me by taking us to see The Sound of Music, a film that has remained my favorite ever since.

Her strength has been my constant source of inspiration. Through every hardship, she faced life with grace and taught me that resilience is something we must strive for. I am forever grateful for the countless sacrifices she made and for the love she poured into us all. She is the reason I am who I am today.

Mom, I love you and miss you more than words can express.

I have many beautiful memories of mom but the one I will share is one I still do today and passed on to my son. One day she took me to town to the supermarket, she wanted to show me how to pick produce. It was  pretty exciting for me. She took me over to the vegetables, picked up a tomato and pointed out how to decide which were best to buy - not the ones turning bad, firm ones, look at them good she said, don’t squeeze them. Then cucumbers, potatoes and on we went. To this day I have a good eye for selecting fruits and vegetables, can do by sight and smell. Thanks mom!

I will remember her as loving and kind to anyone she met. She loved to laugh and had all us as children and adults still laughing and smiling. She never wanted us to feel sad.

Mommy was the true great one in the family. She raised five kids with limited income. I was there and I saw. She was of royal ancestry and had an eye for the good in life and hated the bad. I'm sure she has been welcomed home like a hero. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall God."

I do recall sister Leacock conducting a bible study with a young lady. The study progressed to the point where the young lady wanted  to attend the meetings but she had no appropriate clothing to wear. Sister Leacock went into Bridgetown, purchased material, made the clothing and walked miles to take the finished product to the young lady. That young woman was elated. Truly another Dorcus (Acts 9:36-41)

It’s difficult to put into words the impact my grandmother hand on my life, but I will always remember her as a nurturing and caring person. She was always there for those she loved, and I am grateful for the time I had with her, especially when she came to care for my mother and me after our car accident. 

I will continue to hold her memory close, knowing her love continues to live on in all of us.
