Donald Eugene Lewis

Donny was born May 4, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida to James Gordon and Norma Jean Crockett Lewis. He was a devoted, hard-working, loving husband, father, son, brother and mentor who inspired many. He served his country faithfully for 22 years in the United States Navy. After retiring as Chief Petty Officer, he began a career with LSI in Jacksonville, Florida. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing softball and many other sports. Over the years he enjoyed volunteering and mentoring others, and actively being involved with his beloved extended family of East Pointe Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Lewis, son, Joshua Lewis, step-children, Sage Mayeux and Reese Mayeux all of Jacksonville, Florida; brothers, James (Robin) Lewis of Jacksonville, Florida and Daniel (Deanne) Lewis of St. Augustine, Florida; a sister, Sharon (Frank) Mazzio of Virginia Beach, Virginia; nieces, nephews, cousins, many beloved family members and several dear friends he held close to his heart. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Norma Jean Lewis and his wife, Diane Lewis (mother of Joshua Lewis).

The viewing will be held at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida 32225 from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11. The funeral service will be held at East Pointe Church, 270 Kernan Blvd North, Jacksonville, FL 32225 at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12. Interment with military honors will follow at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donny’s name to the Church Building Fund at East Pointe Church, 270 Kernan Blvd. N., Jacksonville, FL 32225 or to the Children’s Orphanage in South Africa via East Pointe Church.
