Mrs. Delores House died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 75.
Delores is survived by her husband Herbert E. House, Sr., three sons: Darryl House, Sr. of Maryland, Rodney House of Augusta, GA, Roderick House (Valerie) of Jacksonville, FL, siblings Anne Cruse of Savannah, Ga, Benjamin Jones (Dorothy) of Savannah, GA, John Jones of Savannah, GA, and Mary Alice Jackson of Augusta, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her two sons Herbert E. House, Jr. and Alden House, and a Brother Roosevelt Williams. She has 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Delores was born on November 13, 1940 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Mamie Williams. She attended high school in Savannah, GA. She worked for the Baltimore Public School System and lived in Baltimore, Maryland for 37 years. After she and Herbert retired from work, they moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1994 where she was a resident until her death.
Delores’ passions in life were taking care of her family, cooking, sewing, and photography. She was a strong woman that was the center and matriarch of the House family. She loved her family, she loved people and was affectingly known as “Big Red” and “Lo”.
