David L. Boyer is a distinguished veteran of the United States Navy. He served honorably for 23 years as an air traffic controller and retired as a Senior Chief. Upon retirement from the US Navy, David continued to serve our nation through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). His career with the FAA spanned 23 years of working in air traffic control, as well as training future air traffic controllers. David L. Boyer devoted his career to mentoring young ATC in both the military and civilian sectors, for which our nation’s skies are safer.
David L. Boyer is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Verna Mae (Jones) Boyer; brothers, Robert Boyer, Jr., Richard Boyer, Jack Boyer, Steven Boyer; and sisters, Carolyn (Boyer) Kettlar and Barbara (Boyer) Rowley. He is survived by his sister, Sharon (Boyer) Brisbin. David is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Graham) Boyer. He is also survived by the fruits of his happy, loving 60 year marriage: His four children: Tammy (Boyer) Schmiers; Jodie (Boyer) Coleman and her spouse, Alan Coleman; Michael Boyer and his spouse, Lisa Boyer, and Patrick Boyer, and his significant other, Nola Cochran. Their love led to 7 grandchildren, 9.75 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In a celebration of his wonderful life and for a wonderful man, visitation will be Thursday, October 24, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services are Friday, October 25, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. with burial immediately following. Viewing and funeral are at Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida.
