Dave Schwartz completed his journey here on earth, May 15, 2018 at the age of 63, after a brave battle with lung cancer. Dave was born on March 29, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri to Bruce and Vivian Schwartz. Dave earned his business degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia, which began his extended career in marketing, research, retail and warehouse management. In 2008 his entrepreneurial spirit took over and Dave ventured into the restaurant industry with “Dave’s Brick Pit”. After unprecedented success with that venture he chose another venue and entered the world of pawn. As with everything else Dave did, that too was a truly remarkable success. Wherever Dave was, be it his 20 years with Rhodes Inc., other company stents or his own business, his influence to those around him was phenomenal. His motto was, “I am responsible for making everyone who works for me be the very best that they can possibly be, this is a debt that I owe to them”.
Dave took pride in his business success, but it was helping others and his charity work that made his heart truly happy. He was founder and director of multiple pet rescue and underprivileged children organizations in Florida’s Duval and Orange counties. Dave’s enthusiasm and zest for life was evident in his love for animals, children, adventure, travel and wine are overshadowed only by his love and appreciation for family and friends. He is predeceased by his loving parents. He is survived by his devoted wife, Wendy Jones-Schwartz; stepson, Jordan Janke (Amy); grandsons, Aiden Conlin and James Danger Janke, and extended family in Florida, Texas, Missouri and elsewhere. Dave has many dear friends that he considered his family encompassing the globe.
A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. His final requests were, all who have dogs that are both leashed and well behaved are welcomed at this celebration.
