On a beautiful, crisp, blue-sky fall day, November 7, 2010, our Sweet Charity left this earth to begin her Grand New Adventure in Heaven. Charity was born December 24, 1918 in Mt. Morris, Michigan and lived most of her life in Reading, Pennsylvania as a homemaker, wife, and mother before spending several years in Edgewater, Florida, then moving to Jacksonville in 2001. She loved anything musical but her true passion was people, especially her family. She was predeceased by two sisters, Marion Bohm and Jeannette Miller, and by her husband of 51 years, E.W. “Doc” Hoffman. She is survived by a brother, Frances “Bud” Scott, and sister, Shirley Larkin, daughters Karen (Nick) Bashkirew and Holly (Ken) Hess, grandchildren Nathaniel (Ashley) Bashkirew, Christopher (Stacy) Shields, Julie Shields, and Kelsey Shields, one great-grandchild, Logan Christopher Shields, six nieces, a nephew, and many great-nieces and nephews. Charity charmed everyone she met with her wit, wisdom, sweet spirit and kind soul. She will be the silver lining in our heavenly clouds. A memorial service remembering and celebrating her life will be held Saturday November 13, at 11 am, at Riverside Park United Methodist Church, 819 Park St., Jacksonville Florida, with a reception immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
Arrangements under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Jacksonville, FL.
