Catherine A. Ogle, 89, went to be with the Lord April 3, 2011. She passed away peacefully at Halifax Hospice Port Orange, Fl. after a short illness. A native of Jacksonville, she was born September 7, 1921. Catherine graduated from Landon High School in 1939 where she was a Lionette cheerleader. She was a longtime member of Hendricks Methodist Church, a Past Matron of the Barnett (Scottish) Eastern Star and Past Royal Matron Acacia Court of the Amaranth. She was an avid Gator fan well known for leading the ' Funky Chicken Gator Cheer'. Retiring as a transportation manager in 1985, she moved to Tampa in 1987 and Port Orange in 1999 to live with her daughter Mary Ann. She is survived by her loving children, Joel Chappell, Sr. (Helen) of Cookesville, TN, Tommy Chappell (Sandy) of Boynton Beach, Leslie Wing (Suzanne) of Orange Park, Evelyn Lewis (Fred) of Hawthorne, and Mary Ann Johnson (Howie) of Port Orange. She deeply loved her 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Warren Ogle, parents William and Mary Amos, sisters Edna Boring and Mary Stoppelbein, and brothers Bill Amos, John Amos, and Basil Amos. Catherine was the last surviving child. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm, Sunday, April 10 at Greenlawn Chapel, 4300 Beach Blvd. Funeral service will follow at 2pm with Dr. Ronnie McKenzie officiating.
