She attended Queensland High School in Fitzgerald before relocating to Jacksonville, Florida in 1952. In 1957, at the age of 21 she became the guardian of her minor siblings James (12) and Maple (8) when her mother unexpectedly passed away. In 1960 she was united in matrimony to Arthur Jenkins.
Catherine completed her education at Stanton Vocational High School in Jacksonville. She was employed several years at J.C. Penney's before obtaining a degree in Cosmetology. She then established a beauty salon in her home where she met and served many clients, some of which became longtime friends.
Catherine enjoyed cooking, baking, pottery, sewing and gardening. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church until her health failed.
She was predeceased by sons Ronald and Willie Coffee and is survived by grandson, Willie Coffee, Jr, sisters, Ola Freeman of Fitzgerald, Ga and Earnestine Black and Maple Bronner of Jacksonville, Fl. Also left to mourn are numerous grands, nieces, nephews and special cousin and lifelong friend, Gloria Tukes Wilcox.
A visitation for Catherine will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
