Betty Richey Sterling

Betty R. Sterling, one hundred and one years old, was born on October 11, 1923 and entered her final rest on December 21, 2024 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband Stu and is survived by her three children: eldest son Skip (Jackie), daughter BJ (Steve), and youngest son Robert. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A kind and beautiful soul, Betty lived a long life marked by devotion to family and a heart for volunteering. As a dedicated Navy wife she lived all over the world and loved entertaining both family and friends.

She worked with the Salvation Army and was an active member of the Baptist Medical Center Auxiliary for 42 years including being a past President and Special Projects Chairman.

She was loved by all who met her and will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday December 29, 2024 at San Jose Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. with graveside interment at Oaklawn Cemetery and a reception to follow celebrating her life.

In lieu of flowers a donation in her name to Paralyzed Veterans of America would be appreciated.

A funeral service for Betty will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM at San Jose Episcopal Church at 7423 San Jose Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida 32217. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel & Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
