Bessie O. Sutton

Bessie O. Sutton, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 25, 2013. She was born March 11, 1924 to D.W. and Lorena Rackley in Sea Gate, NC. Bessie loved to cook for her family and friends, and was well known for her chicken and dumplin’s and chocolate cake. She also loved to work for her church and taught Sunday school for years. She was a Prayer Warrior and Mentor. She was a current member of Northside Fellowship Church of the Nazarene. Bessie was a grandma to everyone in the church. One of her proudest accomplishments was going on a mission trip with her church to Guyana. Bessie loved and was very proud of her children and grandchildren and remembered everyone’s birthdays. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Woodrow W. Sutton. She is survived by three sons, Vel Sutton, Bob R. (Nancy) Sutton, Raymond (Dawne) Sutton, one daughter Fran (John)Hurst, two brothers Luke Rackley, Jimmy Rackley, one sister Rachel Colby, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Arrangements under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A visitation will be held in the chapel on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Interment immediately after at Norton/Deep Creek Cemetery in Bryceville, FL.
