Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 23rd from 6pm-8pm at The New Mt. Zion Church @ 5410 Nathan Hale Road, Jacksonville, FL. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11:00 am at The New Mt. Zion Church and will be conducted by Rev. Gene Dillon and Rev. Helen Taylor. Ben was born on August 30, 1926 to the parents of Ellis and Pollie Padgett. He went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 20, 2013. He was a wonderful husband to the one and only love of his life, Betty, for 55 years. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2005. The legacy he leaves behind are his six children; Glenda (Jay) Brantley, Faye (Roy) Stevens, Judi (Mike) Stewart, Bo (Valarie) Padgett, Polly (Larry) Rhoden and Helen (Pete) Taylor; Grandchildren, Wendy Castro, Mike, (Shelly) Lee, Jonathan Stevens, Larry “Bubba,(Jessica) Rhoden, Misty Lee Jenkins, Darrel, (Ashley) Padgett, Jeremy (Robin) Stevens, Derrick Rhoden, Deanna Padgett and Miranda Rhoden, and 19 Great-grandchildren. His granddaughter, Tabitha Marie Taylor and great granddaughter, Kaylor Padgett preceded him in death. He is also survived by his sisters, Joy (Roy) Thomas and Erma Bell, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. His parents, Ellis & Pollie, brothers, Fred, Speedy and Marcus, sisters, Deal, Betty, Dell, and Ethel preceded him in death. He was a Deacon at The New Mt. Zion Church and advisor to many. He was a member of Lake Shore, FL Moose Lodge 2020 for many years and enjoyed the benefits of Moosehaven. Ben will be laid to rest at Manning Cemetery next to his wife, Betty. In Lieu of flowers, you may make a memorial donation to Moosehaven, Inc. at 1701 Park Avenue, Orange Park, FL. Arrangements are under the care of Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL.
