She was born and raised in Jacksonville, graduating from Wolfson High School in 1968, and spent many decades working in her family business, Jefferies Foods Company. As a wholesale food distributor, there was no shortage of food in the family, or good cooks. As a result, she created a welcoming home and a seat at the table for many, over the years. She was a loving mother to her surviving children, and dedicated caregiver for her parents and mother-in-law during their final years. As an innately nurturing woman, she spent the next few decades working with the preschool children at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, where she cultivated young minds and lasting friendships. She was a mother figure to many and her sense of humor and growth mindset will be greatly missed.
She is predeceased by her husband, William E. Binkley, Jr, grandson, Liam Christian Turk, her parents, Barbara and Tom Jefferies, siblings Deborah Jefferies Gheesling and Tom Jefferies, Jr. (Tricia), and nieces Brittany Gheesling and Tammi Jefferies. She is survived by her daughter Angela Binkley Turk (Ryan), son William E. Binkley, III (Kim), grandchildren, Jude and Jillian Turk, and brother-in-laws David Livert (Roblyn) nephew Samuel Livert, and John Gheesling, Jr., nephews Bryan Gheesling and Trey Jefferies, as well as numerous loving and supportive friends and family members.
Services will be held at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church at 4001 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207 on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11:00am. Donations in her name to the American Cancer Society or the Epilepsy Foundation would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
