Ardith Louise Darrow

She attended Andrew Jackson High School. For a number of years, Louise worked in a variety of positions at JCPenney’s downtown store. She even got to meet Mr. Penney when he came for a visit.

After leaving Penney’s, she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank before retiring to devote herself to her family.

Louise was married to her beloved husband, Bob, for almost 63 years. They met when she went home with a high school classmate, who happened to be his sister Ruth. He was sitting under the family’s Christmas tree and she always said he was her Christmas present.

Louise, who was known for her strong faith, was a member of Southside Assembly of God for about 45 years. She was a prayer warrior and had a loving heart. Louise loved to give to family, friends and strangers.

She also was known for the fudge icing birthday cakes that she made for family and friends and for hosting Christmas Eve dinners that were special to her nieces and nephew.

Louise was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Darrow who she referred to as My Bob; her parents, Berry and Lizzie Lowther; and her three sisters and their husbands: Annie Belle Gibson (Guy), Willie Maude Mizell (J.P.) and Marguerite Joiner (J.B.).

Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Darrow; four nieces: Vicki Bowers affectionately known as Sissy, Barbara Green, Sandy Strickland (Jimmy), and Ardith Taylor (Donnie); two nephews: Hansford Joiner (Laurie) and Wayne Mizell (Donna); and several great nieces and great nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home at 940 Cesery Blvd. The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at Southside Assembly of God, 2118 Kings Ave., with Pastor Milton Dykes officiating. There will be another visitation at the church one hour before the service.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Pineview Cemetery in Folkston, Ga.
