a full and beautiful life and passed away peacefully on June 4, 2022 in Jacksonville,
FL. Anne was a devoted wife who raised two sons as a stay at home mom.
She later worked for 25 years as an administrator for the American Speech and
Hearing Association in Washington, DC. Her life centered around family and
friends and she always enjoyed family gatherings especially on holidays and
special occasions. She was a devout and active catholic woman throughout her
life and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville, FL for
the past 33 years.
Anne is survived by her son, Dr. James Powell (Patricia), grand daughters Katie
Powell, Stephanie Scanlin (Brodie), and great grandsons Jackson, Connor, and
Myles Scanlin, her sister Rita Marchiano (Jack) and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Deceased family include her husband of 61 years, Frank Powell Sr., son
Frank Powell Jr., parents Julia and John Herstek, sisters Betty (Williams)
Loftus, Mary Sokol, Dorothy Stewart, and brother Jack Herstek.
Her family will welcome friends at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home-Mandarin, FL
from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday, June 12, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at
St. Joseph’s Catholic main church with Pastor Sebastian K. George as Celebrant on Monday,
June 13, 2022 at 10 am with burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery immediately
following.
Anne’s family wishes to acknowledge and thank the nurses and staff of
Brooks Bartram Lakes and Jacksonville Community Hospice for their
compassionate and loving care of our beloved mother.
