Andrew Nicholas Miska, 70, affectionately known as “Lotto Nick” and “Crawldaddy,” a cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, after a battle with cancer.
He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, faith, and a sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. Nick was lifting spirits with his quick wit and playful jokes to the very end; no doubt he had some prepared for Saint Peter as well.
Born September 7, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan, to parents Andrew Leo Miska and Helen Josephine (Chwastek) Miska, Nick was one of 7 siblings, a devout Catholic, hard worker, and loving husband and father.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit and started his career as a maltster with Rickel Malting Company in Detroit. He then took a position as a brewmaster for Miller Brewing Company in Fort Worth, Texas, eventually retiring in 2008 as a brewmaster for Anheuser-Busch in Jacksonville, Florida, after almost 24 years with the company.
Retirement provided him the opportunity to become a consummate family man. Nick never missed an opportunity to spoil his family, with his most admirable role undoubtedly being his role as Dziadziu to his adoring grandsons.
He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, AnnMarie, sons, Andy (Charlee), Chris, and Wally, and grandsons, Andrew and Walter. He is survived by his sisters, Angie, Monica, Holly, and Jessica, and brothers Matt and Steve, their spouses, and countless friends.
The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, July 30th at 10:30am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Road, with a wake to follow in the church hall.
Please join us in remembering and celebrating the life of Nick Miska, a devoted servant of God whose kindness, faith, and sense of humor touched the lives of many. May he rest in eternal peace in the loving embrace of our Lord.
"May the choirs of angels come to greet you. May they speed you to paradise. May the Lord enfold you in His mercy. May you find eternal life."
