Alice Field Cameron, a long-time resident of Jacksonville, Florida, died on October 31, 2017, in Fairfax, Virginia. She was 102. She was known by many names: Alice, Butch, Mother, and Frandy, a name given to her by her first grandchild. Alice was born on October 25, 1915 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Alice loved the Lord and loved serving others. Throughout her life she volunteered in many organizations. She was an active member of the Lake Shore Baptist Church Women’s Missionary Union, a board member of the Baptist Children’s Home in Jacksonville, and a member of the University Hospital auxiliary. Along with her church, she adopted a Cuban family who migrated to the United Stated and helped them to set up housekeeping and to adjust to their new life.
Family and time together were very important. Alice is survived by her two daughters, Joanne Garner and Alice Revis; her son and daughter-in-law Chuck and Grace Field; her granddaughter Laurie Henderson; her grandson and granddaughter-in-law Scott and Kate Henderson; grandson Trey Field; and three great grandchildren. Husbands Charles E. Field, Sr. and Phil Cameron preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
