Albert was born on 13 October 1930 to Peter William Klehn and Allie Viola Pierce in Egan, Moody County, South Dakota.
He enlisted in the Army in 1949, first being stationed in Japan. When the Korean Conflict broke out his unit was sent to Korea. He was honorably discharged in July 1952.
After returning to the States, he met Joyce Marie Thomas. They were married on 26 September 1953 in East Pembroke, New York. They had two children, Patricia Ann Klehn and Victoria Louise Klehn.
Albert served in the Florida Army National Guard for 20 years. In October 1977, he was transferred to the Retired Reserve. He officially retired as a Sergeant First Class on 13 October 1990.
He enjoyed gardening, playing golf, and most recently working on model railroads. Strong willed and stubborn at time, he was also a loving and supportive husband and father. Through all of his life experiences: working on a farm, appliance repair, HVAC technician, avionics EQ repairman, professional tanker driver – he could work on about anything. He lived the best life he knew and will be dearly missed. While our hearts mourn his loss, we are comforted by knowing he is no longer suffering.
He was predeceased by his wife, his parents, daughter Patricia Ann Klehn, his stepmother Louise Loftis Klehn, and brother Daniel William Klehn.
Albert is survived by daughter Victoria Louise Klehn; brother David (Carol) Peter Klehn, sister Susan (Mike) Louise Chamblin; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and -nephews.
A graveside service for Albert will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Boys Town, two organizations that he felt strongly about.
