Myra Maria Stevens

Myra Maria Stevens, known as Maria by family and friends, passed away the morning of April 26, 2016, at the age of 58, at McGraw Hospice Center. She was born Nov. 6, 1957 in Blytheville, AR to Lynn “Steve” and Eloise (Richardson) Stevens. She moved to Jacksonville Beach, January 1960, with her parents and two siblings. Maria attended Jacksonville Beach Elementary, Fletcher Jr. High, and Fletcher Sr. High (Class of 1975); Florida Southern in Lakeland; Oral Roberts in Tulsa, OK, and FCCJ in Jacksonville.

Many will remember her from her association with her parents at the Corner Store in Jacksonville Beach. Maria loved rescuing dogs, woodworking and carving, art work, the beach and her family and friends, and the mountains in North Carolina.

Maria was predeceased by her father, L.G. Stevens, and her maternal grandparents, Lucille and Oliver Richardson. She is survived by her mother, Eloise R. Stevens; brother, Bill (Carolyn)Stevens; sister, Christi Stevens; aunt, Elaine (Len) Fliegelman-DeVries; cousins, Marvin (Susy) Fliegelman; and Brandi, Hailey, and Ryan Fliegelman; niece, Jennifer Davis; great-nephews, Zachary and Mitchell Davis; nephew, Ken Hagood (Jannell); and a very dear friend, Kym Hamilton. She also leaves behind her three beloved dogs, Mugsie, Tucker, and Frappie.

Maria’s Celebration of Life will be Sunday, May 22nd , at 3:00 p.m. at the Ribault Garden Club, 705 2nd Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach. In lieu of flowers, please donate to ASPCA, or Community Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach.
