Dwight H. Wilson

Dwight Hayden Wilson, 93, of Neptune Beach, passed away February 20, 2023. Dwight was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on July 18, 1929 to Dwight L. Wilson and Dorothy H. Wilson. He graduated from Fletcher High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida.

Dwight worked in hotel and property management in the Beaches Area for many years. He was a devoted member and former president of the Beaches Historical Society and had a passion for Florida history, genealogy, architecture, world languages, and the natural sciences.

Throughout his life, Dwight Wilson was recognized by his friends and family as man of many talents. He was a son and brother, and would become a husband, father, and grandfather. He was an engineer, manager, leader, Beaches area aficionado, and follower of Christ.

In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Wilson, brother, Gilbert Wilson, brother, Samuel Wilson, and by his son, Dwight Hayden Wilson Jr. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gloria Wilson, step-daughter Pamela Bell Civile of Neptune Beach, step-son, Charles Bell (Teresa) of Athens, Georgia, daughter-in-law, Amy Colella of Bentonville, Arkansas, granddaughter, Lauren Prince (Phillip) of Tallahassee, Florida, granddaughter, Caitlin Mattler (Tyler) of Atlanta, Georgia, grandson Charles Bell III (Samantha) of Gainesville, Florida, grandson Alex Wilson of Bentonville, Arkansas, grandson Hunter Dorné (Kathryn) of Birmingham, Alabama, five great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.

A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, February 27 at the Hardage-Giddens Beaches Chapel, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. The family will receive friends and acquaintances for visitation between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. and the chapel service will begin at 2:00.
