Roy Lynn Whaley

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, William and David Whaley. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Whaley, who served alongside him in ministry for over 40 years.

Roy was born the son of John and Melba Whaley on Sept. 5, 1951. He was a graduate of Middleton High School and Union University and held 2 graduate degrees from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX.

Roy worked as a prison chaplain in 3 states and retired in 2017 from First Presbyterian Church in Greenfield, TN. He served as the Community Spiritual Director for the Midsouth Great Banquet for almost 20 years, and has been an active member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association for 15 years. His whole life was devoted to building up the body of Christ, and His long ministry as chaplain and pastor helped to shape the spiritual lives of many. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, from 4-6 p.m. and Saturday, June 30, from 10-11 a.m. at All Saints Anglican Church. The funeral will follow at All Saints at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, Carrie requests that memorials be directed to All Saints Anglican Church memorial fund, where it will be distributed to mission organizations that were dear to Roy’s heart, including Indigenous Outreach International, Mission Waco, No Longer Orphans, and Open Doors.
