Robert was born in Knoxville, TN on March 29, 1954, the son of the late Kelly Spellings Sr. and Alice Farmer Spellings.
Robert was the fourth child of Kelly and Alice and after baby sister Kathy was born in 1961 the family moved from Knoxville to Jackson. Robert was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church. He attended J.B. Young Elementary and graduated from South Side High School in 1972. He retired from Proctor and Gamble in 2003 after 30 years of service. He loved being retired and enjoyed watching U.T. Football and Basketball, gardening, traveling, and helping others. He was also a member of the South Jackson Jaycees in the ’80’s.
Robert was a great brother and was dearly loved by family and friends. His sweet kindness and generosity will be greatly missed.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly Spellings, Sr. and Alice Farmer Spellings; his brother, Dennis Spellings; grandparents, John and Ola Spellings and Mahlon and Etta Farmer.
Robert is survived by his sister, Kathy Blankenship (Johnny); brothers, Jerry Spellings and Kelly Spellings, Jr., all of Jackson; aunts, Mildred Smith, Norma Farmer, and Jennie Farmer, all of Knoxville; and many special cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Liberty Grove Cemetery behind Liberty Grove Baptist Church, 1071 Harts Bridge Rd., Jackson. The family will gather with friends starting at 2:00 pm until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank Kirkland Cancer Center and Hospice of West Tennessee for their caring love and compassion during this very difficult time and to Robert’s caretaker, Etta Fay Neely.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Robert’s memory be directed to the American Cancer Society since he lost his battle to pancreatic cancer.
