Mr. Williams was the proud owner of the Jackson Fence Company, a business that was founded by his father in law, Richard Fernstrom. Larry was born January 12th, 1941 to Joe Morgan Williams and Annie Virginia Tegethoff Williams. He was a native of Obion County and grew up in a close-knit farming community. From the 1st through the 8th grade, he attended the 2-room Lindenwood School. At Union City High School, he played football and was in the band prior to graduating in 1959. He attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he studied engineering.
Mr. Williams was a proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who doted on his family and shared many happy memories with them. Mr. Williams was known for his sense of humor, and all who knew him can tell comical stories of "Larry Joe".
Mr. Williams is survived by his daughters, Debbie Mayer (Jim) and Pam Long (Matthew) of Jackson, TN. Grandchildren include Ashley Fortner (Chris), Dylan Blankenship (Harley), Curt Seeley, Caroline Burgardt (Jason), and Matthew Long Jr.. Great grandchildren include Macy Fortner, Paxton DeGood, Alanna Fortner, Vann Clinton Seeley, Henry Blankenship, Max Blankenship, and Oliver Blankenship.
A service to celebrate the life of Larry Joe Williams will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial following in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am, two hours prior to the service.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude and Jackson Animal Care Center.
