Mrs. Garrett was born in Madison County, TN in the Ranger Community on April 11, 1926, daughter of Lindzey O. Blackmon and Zetta Ann Alexander Blackmon.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson. She was a graduate of Beech Bluff High School. After graduation, she, along with many of her classmates, worked for the Southern Bell Telephone Company. She later worked at David's Cleaners, Highland Park Cleaners, and for many years in retail at Nathan's in Downtown Jackson and at Reece's Discount and Savings Outlet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Garrett in 2001; three brothers, William Fordham Blackmon, Lindzey Elton "Junior" Blackmon, and Walter Arnold Blackmon; two sisters, Lona Davis and Nora Bell Moling; and nephews, Joey Blackmon and William F. "Bubba" Blackmon, Sr.
She is survived by her niece, Doris Ann King (Jamie); her nephew, Danny Moling (Carol); nieces, Debbie Blackmon and Tina Moore; great nephews, Darrell King and Troy Moling; and great nieces Leigh Ann Espy and Kristen Farraro, and several great great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 1-2 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Jerry Welch and Dr. Bill Espy officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorials be directed to either First Baptist Church of Jackson, Hillcrest Baptist Church or the Alzheimers Association.
