Mrs. Freeman was born in Gibson County, TN on April 14, 1940 to the late William Harlon Edwards and Martha Jane Hufstedler Edwards. She retired from Allied Signal Corporation. Known as Granny to grandchildren and great grandchildren, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She and her husband were active members of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Max Edwards and Rex Edwards.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Larry Freeman; daughters, Dena Gillmann (Burt) of Humboldt, Becky Harris (John) of Jackson; sons, Michael Freeman (Christie) of Jackson and Johnny Leeper (Connie) of Three Way; one brother, Jimmy Edwards of Gibson Wells; sisters, Jane Richardson of Trenton, Doris Reed of Gibson Wells, Kay McAlexander of Jackson; and Judy Elliot of Charlotte, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of Joann Freeman will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Bro. Jerry Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers to serve will be Dillon Freeman, Dalton Freeman, Cameron Gillmann, Colby Gillmann, Carson Gillmann, and Tobey Taylor.
