Bobby was born November 23, 1946, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to the late Ernest Lee Gregson and Velma Viola Brackin Gregson. He was educated in the Dyersburg School System and was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam war, serving two years. Later, he served 12 years in the Army National Guard. Bobby worked for the City of Jackson for 36 years until his retirement. His positions included Building Official, Fairgrounds Director, and Energy Consultant.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sonja Lee Gregson and Jane Odessa Gregson; and one brother, James Harold Gregson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Gay Arnold Gregson; daughters Dana Hopkins (Mike) of Dyersburg and Jena Swindle (Alan) of Marble Falls, TX.; and step-son JD Connell III of Nashville; grandchildren Anna Jones (Parker) of Dyersburg, Krystyn McDonald of Parsons, and Tyler McDonald (Emily) of Jackson. He also leaves 2 great grandchildren, Kai Salao and Jameson McDonald.
Other survivors include 2 brothers, Don Gregson (Janie) and Jimmy Gregson (Danette); and 2 sisters, Mary Helen Boxx and Frances Rogers (Tom), all of Dyersburg.
A graveside service with Military Honors for Bobby will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021, at 2 PM at Ebenezer Cemetery in Malesus. Friends and family are invited to attend.
