Beverley was born in Jackson, TN to the late Marvin E. Goodman and Gena Tubbs Goodman. The family moved to Memphis when she was 15 years old. She married William Thomas Craig in 1952 and they resided in Germantown, TN before moving back to Jackson and has lived between Memphis, TN and Jackson, TN ever since. They had three children, William Thomas Craig, Jr, Marvin Lewis Craig, and Regena Craig Stout (Randy).
She loved playing the piano and organ and played at several churches including Park Avenue Baptist Church and East Park Baptist in Memphis, Germantown Baptist Church in Germantown, and Pinson Baptist Church in Pinson, TN. She later played piano for Fred Heinz during church services for the seniors held at Luther Towers in Memphis.
During her lifetime, she owned and ran a laundrymat in Memphis and also worked as a secretary for Stanford and Stanford Pediatricians in Memphis and Bill’s Maytag in Jackson.
In addition to her parents, Beverley was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Craig, Sr.; and her three children, William Thomas “TC” Craig, Jr., Marvin Lewis Craig, and Regena Craig Stout.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Gena Rogers (Robert) and Lydia Stout; three great granddaughters, Randi Martin, Caylee Simpson, and Brianna Rogers; and one great grandson, Destin Rogers; her sister, Frances Goodman Heinz (Fred); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 12 noon at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
