Sarah Merrell West Rodgers, beloved mother and grandmother, left this earth to be with the Lord on September 21,2018. She was born in French Camp in Choctaw County on March 16,1938 to Thomas Merle West and Sarah Gladys Kyle West.
Mrs. Sarah Rodgers was a devoted mother and grandmother and was a devout, caring Christian woman. Her life and time was spent caring for her family and the beloved people she served with her husband for the many years they worked and served in the ministry.
She graduated from Weir High School and went on to obtain certifications as a cosmetologist and later as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
Mrs. Sarah Rodgers was widowed by the passing of her husband Reverend Charles Stephen Rodgers, Jr in 2011. She is survived by her three children; Betty Angelia Rodgers Abercrombie of Brandon, Melody Carol Rodgers Taczak of Madison, and Charles Andrew Rodgers, Sr of Brandon. She is further survived by her grandchildren; Stephanie Danielle Abercrombie Roland, Stephen Anthony “Tony” Abercrombie, Joseph Charles “Chase” Abercrombie, Charles Andrew “Chaz” Rodgers, Jr, Madison Noel Rodgers, Brock Austin Taczak, and Jared Keith Taczak. She was also blessed with five great grandchildren Bryson, Sarah Kate, Sarah Claire, Emmett, and Brooklynn and many other family members who married into the family but were just as cherished.
Sarah Rodgers was a loyal and faithful servant of Jesus Christ and was a mentor to many. She taught and exuded the epitome of God’s love and loved to teach others of his love and goodness.
Visitation and funeral services for Sarah Rodgers will be held at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson, MS, with visitation on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 5-8 pm, and again on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 11 am. Her funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Her pallbearers will be her grandsons, her grandson-in-law Dave Roland and Mark Burleson, a dear family friend.
