Mary Ella Armstrong

Mary Ella Mikell Armstrong, a beloved figure in the Jackson community, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024. Mary was born on December 24, 1932, in Silver Creek, MS to Charles and Lucille Mikell. Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Jackson, MS and married her loving husband, Albert Eugene Armstrong.

Mary began her professional career at McRae's department stores, where she worked diligently in the accounting department for 28 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her parents and her devoted husband.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Martha Armstrong Davis (James), Paula Armstrong Johnson, and Jo Ann Armstrong Zandy (Gregg). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson Weed (Jon), Lauren Davis Tugman (Jonathan), and Austin Alexander Davis (Lindsay), and her great-grandchildren, Travis Weed, Jon David Weed, Waylon Weed, and Evelyn Jane Davis. Her sister, Eva Broom of Jackson, MS, and family also mourn her loss.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Raymond Road Baptist Church.

A visitation for Mary will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. Mary will be laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Park.
