Mrs. Marie R Black

Marie was born in Ethel, MS on February 1, 1924 to Ira and Vergle Robertson. On June 21, 1942, she married J.B. Black, who preceded her in death in 1996. Marie was a Christian and a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Jackson, MS for many years. She enjoyed working in the nursery and singing in the Reflections Senior Adult Choir.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Marie is preceded in death by her grandson, Steven Michael Biggs.

Marie is survived by her son, Jerry V.. Black (Terri) and her daughter, Frances Olivia Biggs. Also surviving her are three grandchildren, Cindy Black of Clinton, Pam Ficken (Kraig) of Terry and Jamie Ford (Michael) of Gluckstadt, granddaughter in-law Missy Biggs. Also five great-grandchildren, Matthew Alford (Morgan), Kelli Ficken, Baylee Biggs, Lilly Ford and Lucy Ford.

Her family is grateful to the staff and employees of The Blake at Township and to Baptist Hospice which provided compassionate care for Marie.

Visitation for Marie will be held on Monday, June 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, June 15 at 2:00 PM with the visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.
