John Milburn Vanderslice, Jr., 78, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Claiborne Assisted Living in Hattiesburg, MS. A committal service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 7 at Lakewood Memorial Park.
John Milburn Vanderslice, Jr., graduated from Provine High School in 1961. He is a registered radiological technologist as well as a registered and certified nuclear medicine technologist.
He received his Associates Degree at Hinds Community College in 1963, received a Certificate in Radiologic Technology at University Medical Center in 1965, received a Certificate of Nuclear Medicine Technology at University Medical Center in 1966, received his B.S. degree in Radiologic Science from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana, in 1991, and received his Masters Degree in Radiologic Technology at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1997 at the age of 54.
John received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Health Sciences at the University of Mississippi in 2011 four days before his 68th birthday. He retired as the Program Director of the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program at the University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, in June 2009.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Milner Vanderslice, and his parents, Etoyle McElhenney and John Milburn Vanderslice, Sr., of Bay Springs, MS.
John is survived by his brother, George Thomas Vanderslice of Pachuta, MS; sister-in-law, Karen and their children, Katie Jo Smart (Evan) and Tom Vanderslice; grandnephew, Gage Smart; special brother-in law and sister-in-law, Bud and Joy Reid, as well as the Milner side of the family- too many to mention by name.
His church home is Parkway Baptist Church, Clinton, MS.
