Jessie Mae Dukes of Clinton, MS went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 13, 2019. A visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, May 16, 2019, with a funeral service to follow. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery at 6000 Clinton Boulevard, Jackson, MS 39209. Jessie was born in Jackson, MS to Alex C. Cooper, Sr. and Hattie M Cooper on September 15, 1921. Mrs. Dukes is a long time resident of Clinton, MS.
Jessie is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Dukes, and two sons, Jimmy L. Dukes and Charles A. Dukes. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Paulette Hickman of Long Beach, MS, son Donald R. Dukes, Sr. of Clinton, eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Her favorite charities are St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Gideons International, and the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her caregivers, Medric Smith, Pamela Harris and Siu Man Kong, and Hospice Ministries of Mississippi for the wonderful care provided.
The family is especially thankful for Ann Thomas Dukes, widow of Jimmy L. Dukes. Ann, a retired nurse, adored her mother-in-law, Jessie Dukes. During Mrs. Dukes’ final days, Ann was at her side constantly caring for her every need and managing her medical and physical needs until her passing.
