Iris was born in North Carolina on September 23, 1933. She lived in several places, including Germany, Florida, and Clinton, where she retired from Packard Electric. Iris loved animals and had a giving heart. She would try to help everyone who asked for anything, no matter the circumstances. She enjoyed watching Lifetime movies and Wheel of Fortune, and spending time with those who loved and cared for her.
Her last few years in life, she thoroughly enjoyed her visits with Beth where they would spend hours talking and revisiting the past. Her favorite food in the world was chicken and dumplings. She would request them every holiday and several times throughout the year as a special treat. Iris lived a full and long life on her own after the passing of Ernie until her last few months. She was very independent and did not expect anything from anyone but was very gracious when someone would help her in anyway.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Sarah Dimsdale, daughter, Brenda Barbee, her 5 brothers and 3 sisters, including her twin sister, Doris Hartle, and Ernie Bush, her long-time companion. She is survived by Robbie and Beth Braswell and their daughters, Bailey, Olivia and Arianna who lovingly referred to her as “PawPaw Iris”. She is also survived by 2 granddaughters and a great grandson.
Special thank you to Clinton Healthcare for caring for Iris these last months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League (MARL). Iris had adopted several dogs from MARL over the years and provided them a loving home.
