Carl was born August 1929 to Henry and Vernice May, the first of four children.
Carl graduated from Toccopola High School and was drafted into the Army at age 21. He served with the 47th Infantry as a Medic in the Korean War, wounded in action giving aid to another service man. Carl was recipient of the Purple Heart. Returning from the war, Carl attended Holmes Community College and graduated from Mississippi College with a degree in Accounting.
During these years, Carl, met his Soul Mate, Bettie Siddon, and married in 1956. Carl and Bettie were blessed with four children, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren all of whom adored their “Poppy”.
Carl retried from Southern Farm Bureau Insurance after 28 years to become a farmer. Carl and family were long time members of Morrison Heights Baptist Church where Carl had served as a deacon. He was very devoted to his Sunday School class with whom he held a very special relationship and desire to see each one “every” Sunday.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Vernice May, sister Faye Ferrell, brothers Harold and Kelsey. Carl is survived by his wife of 66 years Bettie S. May, his sons Gary (Tracy), Steve (BJ), Keith (Bethany) and daughter Judy McLemore (Greg), grandchildren Crystal Newman, Garett May, Leah Dibiase, Cameron May, Hannah Wild, Karlyn Wild, Hudson May, Alexis May, Mauri May, and several great grandchildren.
