Bonnie went peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's at her home surrounded by the family she loved. Bonnie served many years as a school crossing guard for Hinds County and the City of Jackson before going to work at the U.S. Postal Service, retiring as a window clerk. She was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church, Florence, MS. She was born on April 1st, 1946, to Doris Mae and James Luther Smith of Jackson, Ms.
She leaves behind her husband, Claude Clark, of 56 years and four children, LTC Richard (Ret) (Robin), James (Delaine), Doris Rogers and Billy (Robyn). She has ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, two sisters, Marlise Prestwood and Patricia Smith; one brother, Jeff Smith (Micki) and one brother-in-law, Randy Clark (Annette). Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who had a gift of love and compassion. She lived her life for her family.
Visitation will be at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Blvd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 24 and on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with funeral services to follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
