Of Jackson, MI formerly of Jackson, MS passed away at home on May 12, 2020 with loved ones by her side at the age of 89. She was born to Mary Haney and Simon Rhodes in Jackson, MS on August 30, 1930. Vivian moved to Jackson, Michigan in 1950 to raise her family. Granny loved caring for her family she always had a funny and or encouraging word. She retired from Marlin Manor where she served many elderly residents with compassion. She also worked for the Kellogg family for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, flower gardening, cooking and pressing and curling hair. She was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She was clothed in strength and dignity and was a source of stability for our family. Vivian leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Diana Tanner and Sherrie Scott both of Jackson, MI; brother, Calvin Haney of Los Angeles; sister, Billie Frazier of Jackson, Miss; grandsons, Barry Tanner, Lydell Tanner, Marrice Tanner, James Stockard, Nico Thomas, Shqune (Sarah) Thomas; granddaughters, Timmara Tanner, Tearra Thomas, Misha Tanner, Michelle Tanner and Megan (Anthony) Tena all of Arizona and Marrissa Tanner of California, Leticia Chambers, Taiann Chambers, Tanata Chambers all of Lansing, MI and 20 great grandchildren. Special loved ones- Charles Chambers, son in law; the family of Bettie Ruth Harren, the family of Augusta Baynes, and the family of Anniestine Haney and a host of other loved ones. She is preceded death my her children – son Clarence Tanner Jr., daughter Renata Chambers, and son Lawrence Gene Tanner and many other loved ones. Granny we will always love you and you’ll be greatly missed. Due to Covid 19 Social Distance policy the family is postponing a public Memorial Service until a later date.
