Larry Sanders went to be with the lord on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the age of 81. Larry was born in Hillsdale, Michigan on March 21, 1941 to Elmer A. and Edna M. Sanders both preceded in death. Larry was a longtime residence of Michigan and worked as a Correctional Officer in federal prison as a cook supervisor. Larry did honor his country by serving in the U.S. Air force in the Vietnam War starting 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1964. Larry married Janet Burch in 1974, where he adopted and helped raise her two children. He lived his later years in Waupaca, Wisconsin with his wife; however, after the death of his wife, Larry returned to Michigan to spend his last years with his last surviving brother and family. He was known for his love of sports (golf, softball, baseball, and football), antiques, music, and horses. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing for his family and friends.
Larry is the youngest of 9 children, all preceded in death except for one surviving brother, Edward Sanders. His siblings including Gerald Sanders, Ethel (Richard) Smith, Mary (Harley) Miller, Raymond Sanders, Donald Sanders, Robert (Aileen) Sanders, Carl (Barbara) Sanders, Last surviving brother and sister in law Edward (Patricia) Sanders. Larry is also a grandfather to 7, uncle to 20, great uncle to 35, and a great-great uncle to 38. Larry was a loving, caring person and will be sadly missed. A service to honor his life will be held at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave. Jackson, 49202) on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 12:oo noon. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service for visitation. Mr. Sanders will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
