Karen Y. Ladd

Passed away peacefully after a fulfilling life as a loving mother, wife, sister and friend to many. Survived by her children, Lisa Ladd-Berry, Robert Ladd, Gregg Ladd and Dennis Wendorf, 6 grandchildren: Joshua Ladd, Britani Houghton-Ladd (Chad), Tasha Ladd, Kyle Sexton, Kayla Ladd, Aaliyah Ladd, 7 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lynne (Dennis) Pienta and Linda (Dick) Gonding and sister-in-law Diane Howard. Preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Ralph and Hazel Wilcox, parents, Arthur and Enid Howard and husband Robert (Bob), son Mark and brother, Brian Howard. Karen graduated in 1959 from Jackson High School and the Detroit Mercy School of Nursing Ann Arbor unit in 1962. Karen was a retiree from Jackson County Medical Care Facility with 22 years of service, she liked to bowl and play golf and enjoyed watching U of M football and attending Tiger baseball games. Karen held strong to her values: Do the right thing, tell the truth, listen to others and be the person you are, not based on the behavior of others, to send a card or make a call to someone else in need, always thinking of others before herself and foremost her faith in God. Her kind, loving spirit and bright smile will be missed but will live on through our own acts of kindness each day that she imparted in all of us. Thank you to my mother in heaven for always loving and guiding us. A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at the Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave. Jackson, Mi. 49202) on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. Burial Roseland Memorial Gardens. Visitation Sunday 1-3 P.M., Monday 1-3 and 5-7 P.M. and Tuesday 10:00 A.M. until service time. Contributions may be made to the Cascades Humane Society in Karen's name.
