Of Jackson, MI passed away on February 9, 2021 at the age of 95. Jim was born on July 10, 1925 in Manitou Beach, MI to parents James Howard Jacklin and Helen Ruth (Griswold) Jacklin. Jim married Joyce E. Townsend in Pontiac. Jim was an engineer for GM and a member of the Brookside United Methodist Church for 30+ years, also serving as a trustee. He enjoyed playing golf and kayaking, belonged to the Jackson Symphony, volunteered for the reading program Energizing Education at Frost, and was a member of the Brookside Bible Study. Jim participated in the 2016 honors flight to Washington DC as he served as a gunnery instructor for the Army Air Corp during WWII. Jim is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ted (Mona) Townsend and cousin Sally Kern; nieces and nephews Kathy Boyd, Amanda (Daniel) Ebbutt, Joyce Townsend, Alan (Alison) Townsend and Russell (Georgie) Townsend, David (Debra) Townsend; and good friends Misty (Dominic) Zsigo, Tori (Nick) Clark, Tyler Alvarado, Christy and Kaylee Steffes. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Helen Jacklin his wife Joyce Jacklin in 2014, and sister Helen Boyd and nephew Wesley Boyd . A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Brookside Methodist Church 11:00 am, with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service where he will receive military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Brookside United Methodist Church (Trustees) or Jackson Symphony Orchestra. In accordance to CDCs remediation masks and social distancing will be required.
