I bowled with Gloria for many years, she was always ready to bowl in the tournaments with me. We also did a lot of gambling trips together. She was so full of energy and always ready to listen if you needed her. She was a great cook too. Rest In Peace Gloria. 

Let me share some of my good memories of growing  up on the Volckaert Farm. This was my second family. Working hard as a kid. Filling flats. Greenhouse planting. Hoeing, picking  vegetables . Loading trucks. Eastern Mkt. Going to all the Polka dances. Gloria would ask me to “ roll her hair” before a special event. Then adding ing all the time while I was in college at Marysville Flowers and Mkt. 
Gloria took me under her wing when I needed it in my life. 
Although she had some financial difficulty later in life, which was sometimes due to her own generosity, I hope she will be remembered for all the goodness and love she had. RIP Gloria!

My Mom was a busy working woman..she taught a lot of things in life. Cooking, baking,canning,  selling, florist work, polka dancing, card party games poker, sewing, crafting , gambling, how to  be a boss on sales at the farm markets, bowling, She was the oldest of 17 children..she worked most of them on the farm. You learned a trade of some sort working with her. Rest up Mom, we will celebrate your life at a  homegoing  celebration.. thanks Jennifer and Aaron for all your help..

I have so many wonderful memories  of sleepovers as a little girl playing at my grandmas and papas houses. As a young girl I remember riding along to polish dances or craft shows. On Sunday mornings polka music was playing on a radio. She always had the best fresh fruits. She taught me to iron papas handkerchiefs for the work week. As a teen I remember we had made jello and grandma had cool whip in the freezer when I opened the container we found a ziplock with folded money inside. She said if someone ever broke in they wouldn’t open the cool whip. We seen the Tigers, the Lions and the Steelers win or lose many games. We had road trips to Pennsylvania, Shipshewana, On my wedding day grandma surprised me with a bouquet of real white roses. Her biggest concern was how they would look all day for the pictures. She thought of the details. Just a  few years ago she was recognized for the best display at the markets. All of the memories make me smile. The doctor appointments and dental visits were comical. I will treasure the country rides, bingo, special events, all of our lunch patio visits this year more than you know. Your loved and missed by so many. 

I will miss Gloria very much.  She was a close friend and taught me a lot about cooking.  My daughter and I worked for 10 years with her cooking for the Warren Polka Booster dances and enjoyed it very much.  She was always a very loving and giving person.  Together, with her husband Tom, they always made me feel welcome in their home and it was always a good time going to the farm to pick fruits and veggies.

Gloria always made the best pies and everyone looked forward to her home baked goodies.  She will surely be missed by everyone.

I remember Gloria for her great cooking and also the beautiful flower arrangements she made.  She was fun to be with and will be missed.


Memorial service will be held at her church Cornerstone of Jackson on Saturday January 9, 2021 at 11am will be visitation and memorial service will begin at 12 noon.  Service will also be live streamed through Facebook Cornerstone of Jackson page. Church address is 1801 Cortland Blvd, Jackson Mi 49203.
