Vincent Robert Giglio, also known as Gig, passed away on October 24, 2023, at the age of 83 in Lexington, South Carolina. He was born on August 12, 1940, in Manhattan, New York. Gig was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Gig loved his faith, his family, and his country. He was an avid supporter of the New York Yankees and the Carolina Panthers. He found great joy in watching channel 55 while sipping on his favorite beer and vodka. Gig worked through word search puzzles daily. He embraced technology and used his tablet and phone to send weekly shopping lists and messages to his kids.
In his professional life, Gig dedicated himself to law enforcement. From 1968 to 1984, he served as an officer and detective in White Plains, NY. He considered his service to the citizens of White Plains as his greatest professional accomplishment.
Outside of work, Gig enjoyed spending time "putzing" around in the yard and going on Carnival cruises with his wife and family. His beloved dog, Maxx, a one hundred pound rescue, was his constant companion and Gig looked forward to walking with him in the neighborhood daily. He found solace and relaxation in these activities.
Vincent Robert Giglio is survived by his children: Jeanine Giglio Murrow, Juli Giglio, Robert Giglio, Michael Giglio, and Jaclyn Giglio. He was also a proud grandfather to Jeremy and Zachary Murrow, Hadley and Madison Giglio. He was a devoted brother in law to Michael Doyle. Gig was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Giglio, his daughter-in-law, Carrie Giglio, and his granddaughter, Caylin Giglio, his sister Olga Long and brother in law Daniel Doyle.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Dunbar Funeral Home in Irmo, SC. The family appreciates the support and condolences during this difficult time.
