Steven Lee Hyatt

A Memorial service for Steven “Steve” Lee Hyatt, 58, will be held at 10:30am Monday, December 7, 2015, at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, with Dr. J. Ben Sloan officiating. The family will receive friends at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, from 4pm-6pm, Sunday, December 6 2015. Mr. Hyatt died Thursday December 3, 2015. Born January 3, 1957, in Abilene, Texas, he was the son of the late Troy Lee Hyatt and Elizabeth Catherine Corley Hyatt. He was predeceased by his brother, James Clifton Hyatt. Steve grew up in Columbia, S.C. and graduated from Keenan High School before earning a B.S. in Accounting at the University of South Carolina. During his college years, he served as a page in the S. C. Senate and married Karen Lovelace, mother of his three children. After college he passed the CPA exam on his first sitting and was hired by Deloitte, Haskins, & Sells. He left Deloitte to join his longtime friend in the family business, Love Automotive Group, as Comptroller General. He quickly earned the title of Vice President and was recently honored for 30 years of service. Steve was an outdoorsman on both land and sea. He liked hunting, sailing, and water-skiing. He earned his Sea Captain’s License and was an avid offshore fisherman. He loved his life as a gentleman farmer in Winnsboro and also enjoyed spending time at Ashley Manor, his home on Edisto Island. Steve had a passion for vintage sports cars, especially Triumphs and Corvettes. He was proud to be a member of the Beaver Creek Indian Tribe and Sons of Confederate Veterans. Steve and Allison are members of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Winnsboro. Surviving are his wife, Allison Young Hyatt; brother, Lyndon Dean Hyatt (Joyce); daughters, Virginia Shealy (Aaron) of Chapin, Sarah King (Chris) of Troy, Ohio; son, Steven Lee Hyatt Jr. of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Kylie, Kaylee, and Christopher King, Alden and Evelyn Shealy; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and brother, he was predeceased by a grandson and angel, Ashley Shealy.
