Homer E. Jones Jr.

– Memorial service for Homer E. Jones, Jr. will be conducted at 11 o’clock, Monday, July 4, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Homer passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of Polly West Jones and the late Homer E. Jones, Sr. He attended Clemson University and was a faithful and loyal Tiger! Homer was an avid outdoorsman who loved wildlife, nature, and gardening. He had a love for sports and was a wonderful church basketball coach for high school youth where he produced championship teams. Homer was a local business owner in Irmo of Irmo Office Supplies, and was on the Irmo Planning Commission. Homer worked for Martin Engineering as Land Manager in White Rock prior to his retirement. He was a Past President of The Lake Murray Irmo Rotary Club and was the guardian of “The Okra Man” for many years. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marilyn Rogers Jones; daughter, Emily Jones Slatni (Farid); grandchildren, Savannah, Dean, Flora; brothers, Phil Jones (Faye), Scott Jones (Kara); numerous nieces and nephews.
