Derek Wayne Haigler

COLUMBIA - Derek Wayne Haigler passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of Donald Wayne Haigler and Cynthia Ann Cromer Haigler. A graduate of Dutch Fork High School, Class of 2003, he received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, biking, fishing, hunting, golfing, hiking, boating, and snow skiing. Derek loved to spend time with his son, two nieces, nephew, and family. He was a member of F3 Lake Murray.

Surviving are his parents of Irmo, SC; his five-and-a-half-year-old son, Keenan Haigler; sister, Kristin Haigler Sipe (Damon) of Irmo, SC; nephew, Brayden Sipe; two nieces, Carter and Riley Sipe; maternal grandmother, Peggy Cromer of Columbia, SC; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Harold “Bill” Cromer, Sr. and paternal grandparents, Julius “Ed” and Betty Haigler.

A Celebration Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2021, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.
