Col. Robert B. "Judge" Dorn Jr.

He was born September 15, 1933, in Columbia, SC, son of Robert B. and Hennie Lee Dorn.

Robert “Bobby” Dorn, Jr. was a 1951 graduate of Irmo High School and a 1955 AFROTC graduate of Clemson A&M College (Clemson University). He then served honorably in the Air Force from September of 1955 until March of 1963. Following his service, he was a Richland County Juvenile Justice officer. Also during this time, he joined the South Carolina Air National Guard where he served from September of 1963 until October of 1982. In November of 1968, he voluntarily returned for active duty in Vietnam under the Palace Alert Program where he flew specialized missions through February of 1969. He returned home and was a farmer and a crop duster. Flying was his passion.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Annie Slice Dorn, daughters: Donna (Mike) Brazell, Chrystal (John) Bouknight, Leisa (Ricky) Ricketts.

Seven grandchildren: Erin (Dan) Wackerhagen, Justin (Rebekah) Brazell, Jamie (Sara) Bouknight, Bradley (Rachel) Bouknight, Christopher (Mariah) Ricketts, Daniel Ricketts (fiancee Catherine Higgins), and Anna Leigh (Michael) Hare.

Eleven great-grandchildren: Daniel and Caroline Wackerhagen, Grace, Colton and Jordan Brazell, Landon Bouknight, Kohner and Jay Bouknight, Aiden and Dakota Davis, McKenzie Hare.

One brother, Richard Dorn, and sister, Mary Kay Grooms, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Wicker and his nurse, Maria Mousaw, Dr. Amy Epps and Jennifer Marsh NP, for their excellent care over the years. We would also like to thank Kelly, Teresa and Stephanie of Lighthouse Hospice for their compassionate care during this time.

A memorial service will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, in Irmo, SC, at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 25, 2021.
